HTML standards do not require that documents have MeTA elements but if MeTA elements occur, they must be inside the document' s HeAD element. The MeTA element can be used to identify properties of a document (e.g., author, expiration date, a list of key words, etc.) and assign values to those properties, typically by specifying a NAMe ef="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=attribute">attribute (to name the property) and a CONTeNT attribute (to assign a value for that property).
