Hal/S
(Hal/Shuttle) A ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=real-time">real-time ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=high-level language">high-level language for flight control applications. Hal was developed for ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=NASA">NASA by ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=Intermetrics, Inc.">Intermetrics, Inc. in the 1970s for on-board ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=software">software. The initial version was a ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=Fortran">Fortran ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=preprocessor">preprocessor, written in Fortran. In 1972, as the space shuttle project advanced, the language was renamed Hal/S and made more adaptable to ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=architecture">architecture of different computers by using ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=XPL">XPL. In all, 11 different implementations, mostly based on ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=IBM 360">IBM 360, were created.
