Computer manipulation of ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=images">images. Some of the many ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=algorithms">algorithms used in image processing include ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=convolution">convolution (on which many others are based), ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=FFT">FFT, ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=DCT">DCT, ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=thinning">thinning (or ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=skeletonisation">skeletonisation), ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=edge detection">edge detection and ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=contrast enhancement">contrast enhancement. Image processing contrasts with ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=computer graphics">computer graphics, which is usually more concerned with the generation of artificial images, and ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=visualisation">visualisation, which attempts to understand (real-world) data by displaying it as an artificial image (e.g. a graph).
