A Programming Language
(APL) A language designed originally by Ken Iverson at ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=Harvard University">Harvard University in 1957-1960 as a notation for the concise expression of mathematical ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=algorithms">algorithms. It went unnamed (or just called ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=Iverson' s Language">Iverson' s Language) and unimplemented for many years. Finally a subset, APL360, was implemented in 1964. APL is an ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=interactive">interactive ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=array-oriented">array-oriented language and programming environment with many innovative features. It was originally written using a non-standard ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=character set">character set. It is ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=dynamically typed">dynamically typed with ref="module.php?name=Lexikon&file=search&eid=1&query=dynamic scope">dynamic scope.
