sector interleave
(Or sector map) The mapping from logical to phy sical sector number s on a magnetic disk de signed to optimi se sequential read s and write s. Data i s u sually tran sferred to and from the di sk in blocks or sectors where one sector lie s within a continuou s range of rotational angle of the di sk. If logical sector s are a ssigned sequentially to phy sical sector s (0,1,2,...) then by the time one sector ha s been read and proce ssed (e.g. writen to main memory) the start of the next logical sector will have pa ssed the read/write head and will not be acce ssible until the di sk' s rotation bring s it back under the head. staggering the phy sical sector s (e.g. 0,3,6,1,4,7,2,5,8) aim s to allow ju st enough time deal with one sector before the next i s acce ssible. Thi s obviou sly depend s on the relative speed of the rotation of the di sk, sector size, sector s per track and the speed of tran sfer of sector s to main memory. style="border-width:thin; border-color:#333333; border-style:dashed; padding:5px;" align="left">In addition suitable contents: [ 2 ] [ = ] [ ad ] [ ag ] [ ai ] [ al ] [ am ] [ an ] [ app ] [ ar ] [ arc ] [ as ] [ at ] [ av ] [ b ] [ ba ] [ be ] [ block ] [ br ] [ bv ] [ by ] [ ca ] [ cc ] [ ch ] [ ck ] [ co ] [ con ] [ D ] [ de ] [ design ] [ disk ] [ du ] [ ec ] [ ed ] [ ee ] [ er ] [ es ] [ et ] [ fi ] [ file ] [ fo ] [ for ] [ fr ] [ ge ] [ gh ] [ gi ] [ gl ] [ gn ] [ gs ] [ h ] [ hr ] [ id ] [ ie ] [ il ] [ in ] [ io ] [ is ] [ it ] [ la ] [ Lex ] [ li ] [ logical ] [ ly ] [ ma ] [ magnetic disk ] [ main memory ] [ map ] [ mapping ] [ memory ] [ mo ] [ mod ] [ module ] [ ms ] [ na ] [ ne ] [ net ] [ ng ] [ no ] [ ns ] [ nu ] [ numbers ] [ O ] [ om ] [ op ] [ optimise ] [ pa ] [ pe ] [ ph ] [ physical ] [ ping ] [ pr ] [ process ] [ pt ] [ query ] [ range ] [ rc ] [ re ] [ ro ] [ s ] [ se ] [ sector map ] [ si ] [ sig ] [ sk ] [ sl ] [ st ] [ su ] [ T ] [ tag ] [ tar ] [ th ] [ to ] [ tr ] [ track ] [ ua ] [ ug ] [ um ] [ us ] [ ve ] [ vi ] [ write ]
