presence detect
< storage> A mean s of identifying a memory chip to the memory controller logic. The original scheme, called Parallel Pre sence Detect (PPD) u sed a separate pin for each bit of information. A s the number of pin s can not be very large thi s only allowed to identify the den sity and the speed of the chip s. To allow for additional information the serial Pre sence Detect ( sPD) scheme wa s introduced which u se s a serial EEPROM to store the pre sence detect information and require s only two pin s (one for enabling it and one for data).
