uninstaller

A utility program to remove another application program from a computer' s disks. Most commonly found on IBM PCs, as applications tend to leave files in various places on the hard disc, so special software is required to tidy up after them. Ken Spreitzer claims to have written the original PC program called "UnInstaller", first licensed to MicroHelp and now (Feb 1998) sold by CyberMedia. Compare with installer. (1998-02-09)
